Why teams look for a Typebot alternative
Typebot is hard to beat on price per chat and gives developers real control: custom JavaScript and CSS, webhooks on every plan, and a self-hosting option. Teams look elsewhere when they want packaged AI answering, live chat hand-off to a person, messaging channels without building them, or a fully managed tool a non-developer can run.
On 3 November 2026 Typebot listed Free (200 chats a month, just you), Starter at $39 a month (2,000 chats, 2 seats, branding removed, $10 per 500 extra chats), Pro at $89 (10,000 chats, 5 seats, WhatsApp, custom domains, analytics) and Enterprise on quote. Billing is monthly only, and at 100% of your chats the limit upgrades automatically to the next tier. Its LICENSE file is the Functional Source License 1.1 with an Apache 2.0 future license; the README badge still says AGPLv3.

6. Conferbot
Conferbot is our product, so treat this entry with the scepticism a vendor listing deserves. It is a no-code chatbot builder that runs one bot across a website widget, WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Discord, Slack and Microsoft Teams, with AI answers trained on your content through the AI knowledge base and hand-off to a person in live chat.
Pricing (3 November 2026 unless noted): Free with 600 conversations a month and 2 chatbots; Starter $19, Pro $39 and Business $59 a month for 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 conversations (pricing). Every channel is on every plan. Webhooks and the API need Starter; native integrations such as HubSpot, Google Sheets and Stripe need Pro.
Where it is strong:
- Per-conversation pricing, no per-contact or per-channel fees
- Structured flows and AI answers in the same bot
- Live chat hand-off and a shared inbox on every plan, including Free
- 21 AI providers to choose from (see AI models)
- Lead capture and booking flows plus AI answers in one bot
Where it falls short:
- Hosted only, no self-hosting
- Less CSS-level styling control than Typebot
- Webhooks need a paid plan
Best for: Teams who outgrew forms and want AI and a human inbox. See lead generation chatbot.
If self-hosting is the requirement
None of the hosted alternatives above can be self-hosted. If running on your own servers is a hard requirement (data residency, internal policy, cost at very high volume), stay with Typebot and read its license, or evaluate open-source frameworks designed for self-hosting. Factor in the real cost of self-hosting: a server, upgrades, backups, monitoring and security patches, plus the time of whoever owns it. For many small teams the hosted plan is cheaper than the hours.
Which Typebot alternative fits
| If you need | Look at | Because |
|---|---|---|
| A non-developer to run it | Landbot or Conferbot | Managed, template-led |
| AI answers from your content | Botpress, Conferbot | Knowledge base built in |
| Live chat hand-off | Tidio, Landbot, Conferbot | Human takeover built in |
| Voice | Voiceflow | Voice is a headline feature |
| Lowest cost at volume | Stay on Typebot | $89 for 10,000 chats |
Moving a Typebot flow
Typebot flows do not import into other builders. Export results first, then rebuild the flow, re-create variables and integrations (webhooks, Google Sheets, Zapier) and replace the embed. A typical lead-capture form rebuilds in a day. Use the move to check whether a chat flow still beats a form for your page: our guide to chatbots vs forms covers when it does, and copy-paste chatbot flows and flow templates speed up the rebuild.

Good reasons to stay on Typebot
- Volume is high and $89 for 10,000 chats is far cheaper than any hosted alternative.
- Developers rely on custom JavaScript, CSS and webhooks.
- You self-host for data residency or policy reasons.
- Your flows are forms, and you do not need AI answers or human takeover.
Questions to ask any alternative
- How is a chat or conversation counted, and what does the next 1,000 cost?
- Can we style the widget to match our brand exactly?
- Which integrations are native: Google Sheets, webhooks, our CRM?
- Can a person take over a conversation, and on which plan?
- Where is data stored, and can we export it?
Our chatbot GDPR guide covers what to ask about storage and consent, and the chat widget designer lets you mock up the look before you choose.
The four pricing models, and who each one punishes
Most of the price differences between these tools come from what they count, not from the headline number. Knowing which model you are buying tells you how the bill will move when your business changes.
| Model | You pay for | Gets expensive when | Examples here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per contact | Everyone who has ever messaged the bot | Your audience grows faster than your conversations | ManyChat |
| Per seat or user | Each agent with a login | The team grows | WATI, Respond.io, Intercom, Zendesk |
| Per message or credit | Each message or AI answer | Conversations get longer, or AI does more of the work | BotPenguin, Chatbase, SiteGPT |
| Per conversation or chat | Each conversation, however long | Volume grows (but long conversations cost the same as short ones) | Conferbot, Landbot, Typebot, Botpress, Tidio |
Two more lines appear on many invoices: AI as a separate meter (Lyro, Fin outcomes, AI credits, AI spend) and channel add-ons (WhatsApp per number, branding removal). Add both before comparing. A tool that looks cheap on the pricing page can cost more than one that looks expensive once these are in.
For WhatsApp in particular, Meta's own per-message fees sit underneath every model. They depend on category and country, not on the vendor you choose, except where a vendor adds a markup.
A one-week test plan before you switch
Feature lists do not tell you which tool will work for your customers. A short, structured test does. This takes about a week of light effort:
- Write down your 30 most common customer questions from last month, plus 5 the bot should refuse or hand over.
- Set up a free plan or trial on two or three shortlisted tools with the same content and the same channel.
- Run the 35 questions through each and score them: correct, partly correct, wrong, handed over.
- Rebuild your most-used flow in each tool and time it.
- Connect your CRM or spreadsheet and confirm the data lands in the right fields.
- Check what happens at the plan limit: hard stop, overage or automatic upgrade.
Pick the tool that answers best on your own questions and whose bill you can predict. If two tie, pick the one your team found easier to change, because you will change it every week.
If AI answers are part of the test, our guides to training on a knowledge base and human hand-off explain what good looks like.
How we compared
Prices, allowances and plan features were read from each vendor's public pricing page on 3 November 2026, unless a different date is shown next to a figure. Where a page contradicted itself, we say so instead of picking a number. We did not run every tool in production for this article; it compares what vendors publish, plus how each pricing model behaves at realistic volumes. Typebot's license is from the LICENSE file in its public repository on the same date. Prices change often, so confirm on the vendor's page before you buy. Corrections are welcome via contact. Disclosure: Conferbot is our product; its entry says so.
If you would rather not run the plumbing yourself
If you are moving because your form needs to answer questions too, and hand over to a person when it cannot, Conferbot combines flows, AI answers and live chat in one bot on every plan. See the template library.
Start free with Conferbot - the free plan includes 600 conversations a month and needs no credit card, so you can have the same flow running on a second channel this afternoon.
Whichever tool you pick, run it against a real week of your own conversations before you commit. Pricing pages describe the model; only your traffic tells you the bill. The chatbot cost calculator and the vendor evaluation questions help structure that test.
