Why teams look for a SiteGPT alternative
SiteGPT trains an AI chatbot on your website and answers visitors from it, with page-based limits that suit large sites. Teams look elsewhere when the add-ons stack up (branding removal, WhatsApp, extra messages), when Starter's lack of integrations bites, or when they need live chat hand-off, structured flows or messaging channels in the same bot.
On 3 November 2026 SiteGPT listed Starter at $59 a month or $39 billed yearly (1 chatbot, 4,000 GPT-4.1-mini messages or 400 GPT-4.1, 1,000 pages, 1 seat, no integrations), Growth at $129 or $79 yearly (2 chatbots, 10,000 messages, 10,000 pages, 4 seats, integrations such as Slack, Messenger and Crisp, API), Scale at $429 or $259 yearly (3 chatbots, 40,000 messages, 50,000 pages, 10 seats, Zendesk and webhooks) and Enterprise custom. Add-ons: branding removal $39 a month billed yearly, WhatsApp $59 a month per number ($39 yearly), AI email support $59 per inbox, and extra messages (listed at both $39 and $59 for 5,000). Every plan has a 7-day trial that needs a card.

6. Conferbot
Conferbot is our product, so treat this entry with the scepticism a vendor listing deserves. It is a no-code chatbot builder that runs one bot across a website widget, WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Discord, Slack and Microsoft Teams, with AI answers trained on your content through the AI knowledge base and hand-off to a person in live chat.
Pricing (3 November 2026 unless noted): Free with 600 conversations a month and 2 chatbots; Starter $19, Pro $39 and Business $59 a month for 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 conversations (pricing). Every channel is on every plan. Webhooks and the API need Starter; native integrations such as HubSpot, Google Sheets and Stripe need Pro.
Where it is strong:
- Per-conversation pricing, no per-contact or per-channel fees
- Structured flows and AI answers in the same bot
- Live chat hand-off and a shared inbox on every plan, including Free
- 21 AI providers to choose from (see AI models)
- WhatsApp and other channels with no per-number add-on
- Branding removal from Starter, not as a separate add-on
Where it falls short:
- Fewer training pages per plan than SiteGPT's Scale
- Integrations need Pro
- Instagram is still coming soon
Best for: Teams that want AI answers, booking and lead flows, and a human inbox in one bot. See AI knowledge base.

Before you switch: is it the tool or the content?
Most complaints about website-trained chatbots are content problems: missing pages, contradictory policies, stale prices. A new tool trained on the same content gives the same answers. Clean your sources first, then test each candidate with the same 30 real questions. Our guides to training on a knowledge base and fixing wrong answers walk through it, and the website chatbot preview shows how a widget looks on your site.
If you decide the problem is the channel rather than the answers, see how to set up live chat on a website and after-hours support with a chatbot.

Worked examples at 3,000 answers a month
Yearly-billed prices on 3 November 2026, branding removed, WhatsApp on one number.
| Tool | Calculation | Approximate monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| SiteGPT | Starter $39 + branding $39 + WhatsApp $39 | $117 |
| Chatbase | Basic $120 (4,000 credits) + branding $99 | $219 |
| Tidio | Growth from $49.17 + a Lyro tier | From about $80 to well over $150 depending on Lyro tier |
| Intercom | 1 seat $29 + 3,000 outcomes x $0.99 | About $3,000 |
| Conferbot | Pro $39 (5,000 conversations), branding and WhatsApp included | $39 |
Intercom's figure assumes every answer is a billable outcome; in practice not every conversation is one. The table shows how differently the models scale, not a precise quote.
Good reasons to stay on SiteGPT
- Your site is very large and the page-based limits suit it.
- You do not need WhatsApp or other channels, so the add-ons do not apply.
- The answer quality is good and your team does not need a live chat inbox.
Questions to ask any alternative
- How much content can we train on, measured the way our site is built (pages, MB, files)?
- How often does it re-crawl, and can we trigger a refresh?
- What does the bot do when the answer is not in our content?
- Which channels and hand-off targets are on the plan we would buy?
The four pricing models, and who each one punishes
Most of the price differences between these tools come from what they count, not from the headline number. Knowing which model you are buying tells you how the bill will move when your business changes.
| Model | You pay for | Gets expensive when | Examples here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per contact | Everyone who has ever messaged the bot | Your audience grows faster than your conversations | ManyChat |
| Per seat or user | Each agent with a login | The team grows | WATI, Respond.io, Intercom, Zendesk |
| Per message or credit | Each message or AI answer | Conversations get longer, or AI does more of the work | BotPenguin, Chatbase, SiteGPT |
| Per conversation or chat | Each conversation, however long | Volume grows (but long conversations cost the same as short ones) | Conferbot, Landbot, Typebot, Botpress, Tidio |
Two more lines appear on many invoices: AI as a separate meter (Lyro, Fin outcomes, AI credits, AI spend) and channel add-ons (WhatsApp per number, branding removal). Add both before comparing. A tool that looks cheap on the pricing page can cost more than one that looks expensive once these are in.
For WhatsApp in particular, Meta's own per-message fees sit underneath every model. They depend on category and country, not on the vendor you choose, except where a vendor adds a markup.
A one-week test plan before you switch
Feature lists do not tell you which tool will work for your customers. A short, structured test does. This takes about a week of light effort:
- Write down your 30 most common customer questions from last month, plus 5 the bot should refuse or hand over.
- Set up a free plan or trial on two or three shortlisted tools with the same content and the same channel.
- Run the 35 questions through each and score them: correct, partly correct, wrong, handed over.
- Change one fact in your content (a price or an opening hour) and see how long each tool takes to pick it up.
- Trigger a hand-off to a person and check what the agent sees: the transcript, the customer's details, the AI's answer.
- Estimate the monthly bill from the trial's usage counter, not from the pricing page.
Pick the tool that answers best on your own questions and whose bill you can predict. If two tie, pick the one your team found easier to change, because you will change it every week.
If AI answers are part of the test, our guides to training on a knowledge base and human hand-off explain what good looks like.
How we compared
Prices, allowances and plan features were read from each vendor's public pricing page on 3 November 2026, unless a different date is shown next to a figure. Where a page contradicted itself, we say so instead of picking a number. We did not run every tool in production for this article; it compares what vendors publish, plus how each pricing model behaves at realistic volumes. SiteGPT's page listed two prices for its extra-messages add-on and two Enterprise limits; we flag both. Prices change often, so confirm on the vendor's page before you buy. Corrections are welcome via contact. Disclosure: Conferbot is our product; its entry says so.
If you would rather not run the plumbing yourself
If you want AI answers from your site plus forms, bookings and a live chat inbox, on the website and messaging apps, without add-ons per channel, Conferbot covers that from its free plan. See website chatbot.
Start free with Conferbot - the free plan includes 600 conversations a month and needs no credit card, so you can have the same flow running on a second channel this afternoon.
Whichever tool you pick, run it against a real week of your own conversations before you commit. Pricing pages describe the model; only your traffic tells you the bill. The chatbot cost calculator and the vendor evaluation questions help structure that test.
